Grow from the same ground
There is no such thing as the best circus artist. Circus is too diverse for that. Blak circus is shaped by difference, lived experience, and the knowledge carried in bodies. The exceptional artists are those who are deeply themselves, and who continue to search, test, and refine that truth.
Na Djinang Circus creates contemporary circus from what we discover in First Nations culture and stories. Our work is recognised internationally, but it is sustained by practice rather than product, and by people rather than polish.
Our engagement practice is simply the refining of this search.
Our artists work at the coal front, discovering through their bodies, carrying knowledge across contexts, and letting the work shift as it is tested. This search does not stop when a work is on stage.
What is discovered is practised in the open. These are moments where artists, ensemble members, mob, community members, and one-off participants all work within the same living practice.
An invitation to step into our practice and grow from the same ground.
Workshops
Step into Blak Circus with Na Djinang, guided by world-class artists, these workshops open a door to movement, Culture, and connection. You will tumble, balance, and create as a team in a space that celebrates curiosity, courage, and the joy of trying something new.
No experience is needed, just a willingness to play, test your limits, and discover what extraordinary might feel like for your body.
Every engagement is tailored to the people in the room. We adapt skills, structures, and content for each workshop, sharing how we translate complex emotional stories into physical works.
